Three Danish girls I know and an old (sorry Dunc!)
British friend of mine.
A very cute Danish friend of mine & yours truly!
City
bikes are free but you need a 20Kr coin deposit to take one off a rack.
They're a great way of getting around but finding a working bike can be
difficult! They have solid tyres to reduce maintenance and are provided
by the local givernment and sponsored by local firms.

The
first picture is of the Little Mermaid. I have a couple of Danish &
I had a few British friends living here so I tended to visit Copenhagen
quite often. I find it a beautiful city. Copenhagen has something
that is difficult to describe. You'll just have to experience it for
yourself! I really like the Danes. Everyone has been very friendly
and speaks good English. Beer is cheaper than in the rest of Scandinavia
but I found the beer too gassy. A good area for bars and restaurants
in Nyhavn.
As soon as you get reasonable
weather (i.e. no snow on the ground! :- ), you'll find Danes out here.
It's a canal/harbour where Hans C Andersen lived and where the boat trips
(well worth it) begin. The ferries to Malmo (Sweden) leave from here
cost DKK 114 and only take 40 mins.
I
have 3 bars to recommend in Copenhagen (thanks Dunc.) :-
The Cafe Obelix!!!! &
the Bar Bar Bar, Vesterbrogade 51 (4/A5)
Telephone: 31 31 88 89 (they're
on the same square)
and my favorite (see below)! It has Belgian beers
and it's in the center of CPH :-
Sommersko, Kronprinsensgade
6 (4/E3), Telephone: 33 14 81 89
which means "Summer shoe"! NB lack of beer menu, you
have to look behind the counter to see what they have! Also good
for food, Sommersko has about 40 items on the menu, all of them good and
very reasonably priced. The portions are huge, so don't order more
than one item at a time.

If you know what you are doing you can save a little cash. Whenyou come
through the customs channel into the arrival hall, the taxisand buses are
directly opposite. Instead of getting the SAS bus, crossover the road to
the standard bus stop and catch the 250S (normally bigbendy buses). Ask
for a 2 zoner klipkort (cost 70 DKr, 10 journeys inzones 1 and 2) and clip
it twice in the machine ('cos you're in zone 3).The bus takes 25 mins rather
than 20 and still stops outside the railwaystation next to Tivoli and is
half the price. You can take more than oneperson on a klipkort (2 people
= 4 clips) and it'll give you transportround town for the weekend. |
