Last year (1998) Roger Scoffield graduated with honours at the Dean School of Beer Drinking. Stacey, Brad and Duncan have been learning how to drink beer!  Easy you may say!  I'm talking about quality not quantity!  This was their first exam.  Other friends were invited to join them and test their mettle against my students. I was only a little surprised as my students did come 1st (Stacey) 2nd (Brad, maybe that's where you'll come in our private competition!) and 3rd (Dunc)!

Dunc (3rd), Brad (2nd) and Stacey (1st)

Many thanks to John Warburton for cooking such a fantastic meal! We had beer-related starters, Beef Flambade with a beer sauce as main couse and Trappist cheese from Belgium to finish off nicely!

My poor fridge, jam packed full of lovely beer! Me and my number 1 student!
Robert, Jade, Diana, Wilma and Lex, enjoying the atmosphere Anastassia, Marina, Geraldine and Patricia (2 Russians, 1 French and 1 Brit)

Belgian Beers

A prayer

Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk),
At home as it is in the pub.
Give us this day our foamy head,
And forgive us our spillages,
As we forgive those who spill against us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer, The bitter, The lager.
Barmen.
