Babylon 5

Ivanova and Captain Sheridan of Babylon 5A shadow (bad guys) ship firing at a Whitestar ship (good guys)

I now have all of the episodes upto in season 4 and I'm addicted! Babylon 5 is one of the best Sci-fi series ever created, I like it more than Star Trek and I'm a big Trek Fan! The series was written by j. Michael Straczynski. He wrote the whole series before selling it to Warner Brothers. This means that the series hangs together very well. Why do I (and lots of my friends like it)? It's so well written and it's a good replacement for the too 'politically correct' Star Trek Voyager episodes coming out at the moment. He uses elements of the JFK assasination, Nazi Germany and American independence. He throws in lots of nice plot twists and keeps you guessing all the time! There is superb character development and the plot lines actually fit together. The special effects are all computer generated and are very well done. try it out!  Season 5 is now showing in the UK.  Several Tv films and a TV spin-off series are planned.

The first TV movie, in the Beginning is already out.  It's brilliant with fantastic special effects.  Most of the actors from B5 play in it (Why doesn't Franklin remember meeting Sherdian?)

Dr Who
The worlds longest running Sci-fi series (1963 - 1989) is still alive and kicking today.  There was a pilot for a new series done 2 years ago (between the BBC and an American network).  This truned out not to be very popular (not popular enough for a new series anyway).  My opinion (and that of a lot of people) is that it was too American (guns, the romance betwen the Doctor and the assistant).  I hope that they try again.  In the meantime first Virgin then the BBC keep the series alive in a series of new books.  They're excellent.  if you're looking for a good start then try Blood Heat by Jim Mortimore.
Below are pictures of all the Doctors (excluding the film Doctors and the replacements for Hartnell used in the specials) in date order (left to right).
