Bucharest - May 8th 2004

Hot & sunny! Not as much to see as Budapest or Prague. Went to a lovely park and revolution sq. Where Ceausescu gave his last speech before the revolution on 21st Dec 1989....A guy stopped to help me with directions (not that I needed them but the thought was there) and then his kind work was undone by a guy stepping out in front of me and claiming to be from the police. There were warnings about this at the tourist office at the train station. His badge was in a wallet and flashed quickly, like you would do in a movie when trying to bluff someone. He was dressed in normal clothes so I said "you're not a policeman" and quickly walked off (Shaking a little I might add). he said "oi" a couple of times as I retreated at high speed.
